From Raja Pratap Singh fort to Belha Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh is named after the fort built by Raja Pratap Singh near Rampur close to old Aror. The district was constituted in 1858 with headquarters at Belha. The name Belha is linked with Belha Bhawani temple on the bank of river Sai. Sarai Nahar Neolithic remains, Buddhist Kot memory on the Sai bank and amla products add to the district identity.
